Veryyy hot. Fans everywhere due to broken air conditioning. Flys in my face. I ordered an eight inch cheese pizza with sausage and pepperoni. Crust was very crispy and not too dry. Not bad, but not amazing. My Mom ordered the veggie lasagna and wasn't a fan. Very unappealing presentation. Said it was wayyyy to cheesy. Penne pasta was basically a bowl of sauce with a few noodles and a meatball. I didn't eat any if the garlic bread, but from what I saw.. Was greece. Pure greece. For dessert I ordered a cannoli which was very tasty and presented well.

I think that this place is a great deal, the food better then most, and the service is always good! Some of the previous reviews are not so nice, and I feel that that is sad, because people give great reviews to "Popular" places, such as Pizza hut, Arby's, etc., instead of keeping local businesses alive! Try the pizza, for sure...especially if you are like me...lot's of cheese lover...I took my friends and in laws here, and everyone of them loved this place...Let's keep local businesses going!!!

I almost wish I could do this as two separate reviews. One for the food and yet another one for the service, but because I can't, the rating isn't very good. We've been coming here since the place opened. They have the best sauce, excellent garlic bread, a fabulous salad, replete with mozzarella, hearty chunks of tomatoes and peperoncini. That being said, I hesitate to come here because I don't know which Barbiere's I'll be getting. Will it be the one with top notch service that I received on Memorial Day? Or will it be young servers that really don't give a shit, like I had this past Wednesday night? At first opening, the service wasn't great (this was a few years back). Then it seemed to really get considerably better. I've been happy there for the last several months. Until this past Wednesday night, that is. We ordered our customary two glasses of wine, salad, garlic bread and pizza. The dining room was empty, except for one larger party table (maybe 8 people?). The food was SUPERB! But trying to get that second glass of wine? Elusive, to say the least. I can even forgive that. Not too big of a deal. I can drink water and skip a second glass. But then after we finished our salads, the plates were removed. The pizza then arrived and we had NO PLATES to eat it off of. I told the server about the issue. She apologized. And then continued to let us sit there while our pizza got cold, probably an 8-10 minute wait while we stared at our pizza. Saw other servers standing around while service continued to decline. Inexcusable. Sorry Barbiere's, I used to talk you up. But until you fix these service issues, I cannot have your back anymore.

Food was so so. Had chicken in lasagna, which wasn't very good. Hostess, the one with really cool hair was very helpful, and was best part of visit. Your MUCH BETTER OFF going to Jonny Mo's down the block WHERE FLAVOR IS APART OF THE MEAL. .

I am a big fan of the other Barbiere's from childhood and bought a groupon for this place before I realized that it was in South Milwaukee. No worries though, we happily drove out there to explore. The food is the same, which means that the salad has too much dressing and the pizza too much cheese. But I love the pizza crust and of course the ridiculously bad for you garlic bread. Unfortunately, the service here was amazingly slow. There were only two tables occupied, but I never saw our waitress. I had to hunt someone down every time we needed something and the food took forever.

With quick attentive service and food that matches the original location, I would easily recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes sit-down Italian food.

These people are CLUELESS about Italian food! Was there a few nights ago. Ordered antipasto salad and Chicken Cacciatori. First, while the salad had some salami, cheese, and peppers, the lettuce was completely limp and swimming in oil, but I doubt it was olive oil. Seems like the lettuce/oil mix was made many hours ahead. Yuck. You're supposed to DRIZZLE the lettuce in olive oil, not bathe it in Mazola corn oil. Second, Chicken Cacciatori is a stew and traditionally has carrots, celery, onions, etc. Not here: The chicken was a small bone-in breast half made in tomato sauce and served with a side of pasta covered in a hamburger meat sauce. No veggies to be found. Sorry folks, this does not come even marginally close to Chicken Cacciatori. I had to ask the waitress to bring some parmesan cheese. The garlic bread was also very, very greasy. I would suspect that the person in the kitchen knows nothing about Chicken Cacciatori, a Mediterranean-type salad, or Italian cooking. I should have suspected something when the menu read that the Barbiere family sold it to a "Dempsey" in the 1990s. If you want cheap, oily, unauthentic quasi-Italian food, this is your place. Of course, you could stay home and have a Chef Boyardee.

Average Italian food at average prices. I had lasagna, which was good but a little too saucy. The garlic bread was probably the highlight. Paying our bill literally took 10 minutes for some reason even though the place wasn't busy.

It wasn't crowded when we came, so the service was spot on. The prices were a couple dollars more than I would have liked. The food was delicious. The garlic bread was drenched in butter and although it looked like it wouldn't be good, it was; my mouth is watering thinking about it. The pizza was delicious. I want to come back to try their bar offerings.

My wife met me for lunch here, as it's close to where I work. I ordered the meatball sandwich and she had the vegetable lasagna. The place was decorated nicely, clean, and had friendly wait staff. The meatball sandwich was good. Hearty meatballs on a roll, smothered in marinara. They must make the veggie lasagna to order, because it took 20-30 minutes. It was basically noodles, some tomato sauce, and a couple pounds of cheese. Not much flavor, no vegetables, and way too much cheese. She wishes she had just gone with the traditional meat lasagna. The lasagna came with a large piece of their garlic bread, which was delicious because it was soaked through with butter. Overall, an okay place to get lunch, but the food was just okay and nothing original. Might be better for dinner or pizza.

Recently opened- Barbiere's "South" in South Milwaukee. The original Barbiere's can be found in Milwaukee off Bluemound Road. Let's first start off by saying that the decor at the new location is an improvement- but let's be honest by saying that the original has probably never been updated. The menu is the same, the food is just as good. As I posted in my review at the Bluemound location the pizza is ok, when I go back I'll get the Lasagna dinner which is pretty good. Oh yeah, you still get the garlic bread dripping in butter at this new location as well....yum! ...lastly I have to say in addition to the decor the service seems a little better at this location.

I purchased the groupon for the Take out dinner for 6 which included a pan of Lasagna, Garlic Bread and Antipasto Salad. First, I will say that it can feed much more than 6. It is a lot of food. However, the food was very mediocre at best. I believe that I can make a better lasagna dinner. The garlic bread was greasy with no garlic flavor. The lasagna was a soupy mess. The amount of meat was laughable - literallly just crumbs here and there, huge gobs of cheese that I almost choked on, canned mushrooms (yuck) and the noodles were overcooked. I will say that the red sauce did have good flavor. The salad was good, but was basically a bunch of lettuce with tomato wedges, olives, pepperoncini, slices of mozzarella and salami. That would be kind of hard to screw up. We won't be going back.

the menu stated that the garlic bread was famous. i have to agree. after trying it, we were back for more 3 days later. alot of butter yes, but not greasy as others have written. maybe a little more garlic but still excellent. the pizza was very tasty good quality cheese & yes there was alot of that on the pizza. if it's too much for others, order it easy on the cheese. for me it was good. tried the spaghetti, nothing special but was good. good tasting meatballs. we'll be there again.

Met a friend here when we were staying at a hotel not far away. The menu is pretty standard. Service was prompt and friendly. It's easy to make a shared, family style meal here, so fun with a group of friends. The pizza was quite good, and the prices very reasonable.

I will never go back to this place. Something must have changed, maybe a new owner, I don't know. Only one star since zero stars is not allowed. Went back for cheese ravioli with mushroom meatless sauce. There was no flavor to the sauce and it seemed watery, or watered down. My companion had the spaghetti with meatball and meatless sauce and her sauce seemed very thin. The employees are always so nice. Parking is easy but who cares.

I was very excited to see a new restaurant come to South Milwaukee and more excited that it was non-smoking. The owners did a great job on the renovations and the restaurant itself is nice. However, the service is very poor and the food is only ok. I can take mediocre food in a nice non-smoking place, but not with crappy service . The staff doesn't have a clue, and don't seem to care.

Nestled snugly in South Milwaukee the new Barbiere's is the perfect dating spot. Same great pizza its known for Barbiere's now in a quiet cozy environment. The wait staff is young but attentive. Priced perfectly for lunch or dinner.

Dear Barbiere's, I love your food... when your employee's make it well. Tonight they didn't seem to give a crap. The pizza and bread should have both cooked a few minutes longer, and since when does your salad consist of lettuce and 1 piece of tomato? I crave your salads and the wonderful cheese and meat that are supposed to come on them; this I could have made at home for literally $0.30. This was a pick up order, and it wasn't even busy. Wish I hadn't tipped. Everything was disappointing. It will be awhile before I come back. Maybe you will have better cooks then. Sincerely, A customer of 20+ years

I have been astounded with the service and food every time that I've visited here. I've been with adults, co-workers, and have even braved bringing my toddlers with. The price of everything is remarkable. Their garlic bread is a MUST try. Their anti-pasta is a great thing to order while waiting for the fresh pizza. Martini's were spot on, and their beer choice is pleasant to choose from.

For some strange reason their Pizza tasted better after I ate it later at home, after I re cooked it. Very strange:0. In the restaurent the crust was hard, almost like frozen and the toppings were undercook?? Or just thrown over tye crust. I couldnt have more than a piece. But without a doubt this was the most expensive, and worst pizza I ever paid for. Maybe they should get some lesson from pizzaria uno in Platteville on how to make a pizza? Never again...

Thought the food and service at this restaurant were both quite good. Our first visit was right after this location opened. My husband had spaghetti and I had lasagna. Great gooey lasagna! I literally needed two forks to handle all this cheesy goodness. Our server was attentive and the prices were quite reasonable. I certainly would return and recommend this restaurant as a south side of Milwaukee 'must try.'

I am giving this place a 1 Star rating for a couple reasons. We eat out a lot so I am basing my review on comparisons. We were greeting by our server right away. We had a lot of questions regarding the menu because it's our first time here. There wasn't an appetizer menu. In fact the only appetizer type food was the garlic bread! No mozzarella Marinara, no Bruschetta. This is an Italian restaurant right? The server was not very interested in our questions. In fact she walked away a couple times and we just looked at each other! Long story short the food was ok, nothing special. The sausage on the pizza was the best thing there. I had to turn to water because the soda was so flat! My 13 yr old took a drink of his and told me to check mine, it was bad.

Good enough service, meh pizza. Tried to think of a pizza place it was better than and couldn't. As another yelper said the sausage was remarkable. Cheese and sauce were good too but ratio was off. The antipasto salad deserves a mention as well -good dressing and does well with the buttery garlic bread. Three floyds in bottles is neat, too. Liked the place, but at the end of the day the pizza was like a glorified bar pizza and not a pizza place pizza.

Made plans to meet a bunch of my friends at the bar last Friday night for their delicous Sangaria. My girlfriend went into the bar and sat their for ten minutes before the bartender came over to us and instead of greeting us just said "Are you with the party?" We both said "No" and she told us she could not serve us at the bar because the party said no and that we could see the hostess for a table if we wanted too. We had decided to leave and go else where.

I'm secretly a fan of these sorts of little Italian places. Character. Actual Italian people. Family atmosphere. It just plain makes my day. I adore the South Milwaukee location. Great spot for lunch if you're in the area. Quick service, lunch portions on the menu. Solid prices. Lasagna is terrific. Sometime you just want predictable and comfortable. This place has it.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
